Our Research Work

We are passionate about helping social change leaders find solutions to economic and social barriers that perpetuate racial inequities and prevent black individuals, families, and communities from having access to opportunities they need to thrive. We use rigorous research to gain insights that help our clients solve problems and achieve their goals.  Some of the types of research we do include:

  • Fundamental and Applied research
  • Mixed research (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Explorative and cross-sectional research studies

We also develop case studies from past client work and use it as part of our problem-solving toolkit for our future client

How our Research work creates value

We think of measurement, evaluation, and learning as decision-making tools, and we bring a racial equity lens to all our measurement work.  These tools are most effective when used organization-wide and when they incorporate measurement of programs, finance, operations, and leadership. We help clients answer questions such as:

  • What specific outcomes will we hold ourselves accountable for and over what timeframe?
  • What indicators will we use to track progress?
  • How do we design performance measurement that considers racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic factors?
  • How do we choose between—or blend—quantitative and qualitative measurement?

How can we use data to make decisions and innovate, and how do we share it internally and externally?
